Reliable Security does not install smoke detectors, but rather Photoelectric Smoke Communicators.

You may find your self asking: What is the difference? The answer is quite simple. Look at it this way:  

A smoke detector only lets you know if there is a fire in your home or business. A smoke detector is only good if there is someone there to hear it go off. Millions of people, especially those who are hard of hearing do not wake up to the sound of a smoke detector. Ask yourself this: How do you know if the smoke detector is working? Most people answer that “when you push the button, the smoke detector makes a noise.” That is true, the smoke detector makes a noise, but what it is really telling you? Is it telling you that the smoke detector is fully functional and waiting to notify you of a fire? NO…. all that means is that the battery is still good. The only way to truly test a smoke detector is to use actual smoke.

With Reliable Security’s Photoelectric Smoke Communicator, a signal is sent to the monitoring station, advising of smoke.  In many cases, a signal has been sent before it was an actual fire and still only in the smoldering stages. When part of Reliable Security’s home/business protection system, not only does the Photoelectric Smoke Communicator make noise, but the siren for the system also goes off, creating a much louder sound, increasing the chances that one will wake up, even if they are hard of hearing. And keep in mind that within approximately 6-8 seconds of the monitoring center receiving the signal, help has already been dispatched.  Not only does it dispatch help, our home/business protection systems are tested by the monitoring centers monthly and will notify you in the event of a problem.

Our Photoelectric Smoke Communicators are designed to detect that heavy dark smoldering smoke that is typically associated with electrical fires, grease fires, and fires that are started on any of the synthetic materials that we have today (i.e. couches, mattresses, carpeting)
